Deloitte Meritorious Award

Deloitte Singapore continues its strong support for the School by establishing the Deloitte Meritorious Award to recognise outstanding students on the Dean's List from the Bachelor of Accountancy and double degree programmes. Each award consists of a gold medal which is presented to students during the annual Dean's List ceremony.

Said Mr Chaly Mah, CEO, Deloitte Singapore & Southeast Asia: “At Deloitte, we believe that it is important to work with tertiary institutions to promote the study of accountancy in Singapore. We are therefore pleased to be in partnership with SMU and hope that the Award will motivate the exceptional talents in the School of Accountancy and spur them to greater heights of academic excellence.”

Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship (RJMS)

The Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship (RJMS) program is initiated by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Foundation to promote the education of collegiate accounting and criminal justice students around the globe. The Ritchie-Jennings Memorial scholarship program was named after two members of the ACFE, Larry Jennings, 49 and Tracy Ritchie, 41, who were among five people fatally wounded when unknown assailants in Karachi, Pakistan fired upon their vehicle on November 14, 1997.

ACFE Foundation scholarships, valued at US$1,000 with a one-year ACFE Student Associate membership, are available to full-time undergraduates majoring in accounting.

The Moore Stephens Scholarship
This scholarship is established by Moore Stephens, to provide continued support for the second-year recipient of the Mdm Tan Gim Tee (Mrs Aw Kim Swee) Scholarship. The scholarship money will see the recipient through the third and fourth year of studies. The donor may, in consultation with SMU, assist scholarship recipients in securing internship placement, as well as employment upon graduation, with the donor.

Doris and Mick Aw Business Study Grants

Students can now look forward to financial assistance for Business Studies Missions (BSM)*. This grant is set up to encourage and assist full time SoA undergraduates with demonstrated financial need to undertake overseas projects for the BSM programme at the university.

The donors have also kindly sponsored the Mdm Tan Gim Tee (Mrs Aw Kim Swee) Scholarship and Aw Kim Swee Financial Accounting Award.

*The purpose of Business Studies Missions (BSM) includes exposure to the issues of international business and entrepreneurship in the cities that are part of the study mission. The design of the course encompasses pre-study mission preparatory sessions, development of study mission projects in teams, and background preparation for the projects. Integral to the course is the study mission project that participants are to initiate, plan, develop and execute during the business study mission. The project must meet criteria developed by the course facilitator and the management group area coordinator and be in line with the focus of the business study mission.
